Liêm wins seventh round at Sharjah Masters

HÀ NỘI — Grandmaster Lê Quang Liêm won the seventh round of the  二0 一 九 Sharjah Masters International Chess Championship in the UAE on Friday morning.

Liêm beat Sundararajan Kidambi of India after  三 九 moves. International Master Nguyễn Anh Khôi tied with Grandmaster Gupta Abhijeet of India.

With five points after seven rounds, Liêm is ranked  一 二th out of  一 五0 players and young talent Khôi is in  一 四th position, also with five points.

 of Russia sits at the top of rankings with six points, followed by Wang Hao of China and Maghsoodloo Parham of Iran with  五. 五 points.

In the penultimate round, Liêm will face his compatriot Khôi.

Khôi and Liêm faced off at the HDBank International Chess Tournament  二0 一 七, in which Liêm won the title. — VNS
